Permission with a purpose
Optional means optional.
The Now Capsule asks for Android’s “Display over other apps” permission only when you turn it on. Disable it and the overlay disappears.

Is Meloqis available now?+
A private development APK is being prepared for device testing. Public distribution stays closed until source, signatures, privacy details, and rights checks are ready.
Will the Now Capsule work on Android 13?+
Yes. It is specifically designed around Android’s overlay permission, with the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra as the first target device.
Does the capsule read other apps?+
No. It displays only Meloqis playback state and does not use notification access or an accessibility service.
Is Meloqis open source?+
Yes. Meloqis is a modified GPLv3 fork. The exact source will be published before any public APK download opens.
